Anonymous said: Hi Justin, My name is Lucas, I'm french and I recently discovered your work on 'This isn't happiness'. I'm impressed ! This is definitely the style that I like. The way you take advantage of natural light is really awesome ! So I have a question: What makes you go for the Hybrid rather than for the Reflex ? Is that just about the size or is there something else ?
In 2000 I owned and used a Nikon Coolpix 990 which was one of the most eagerly anticipated digital cameras at that time. It gained cult status amongst designer types (who loved it’s twisting body). When that camera died I really lost it with shooting and just settled for pocket cameras as I couldn’t find an enthusiast camera which pulled on the heart strings as much as the 990.
When the GF1 came out I bought one straight away (2010). I fell in love with the 20mm pancake lens. At the time of it’s release, there was an Olympus camera which was better in every way. It could take the 20mm Panasonic pancake, but the pancake was an optional lens on the GF1 so I went with that package.
I lost my original GF1 in 2011, bought another, which died more recently, then I upgraded to a GF6, which I like but don’t love so I bought another GF1 off eBay.
I suppose I fell in love with the GF1. In my opinion, a camera you fall in love with using is much more important than a camera with amazing specs that you don’t like using.

Hey Shima, thanks for the feedback and reaching out!
Just checked out your tumblr (I’m now following you on Instagram too). You’re on fire! So many great shoots! Love your look, so strong and so beautiful. Loved reading your words too, great values, you’re 100%.
I’ve always said that anyone who’s anyone will make their way to Sydney at some point in their lives. So here’s to our future shoot! I can’t wait!

Cheers Racqel. Bang on! I’m such a slave to natural light. I literally follow the light around a house when I’m shooting, which throws previous plans to shoot in a certain room out the window most of the time, but hey, I like being dictated by the light (it feels right!).
PS: Love your tumblr. You’ve got great taste! I’m following!
